Hey this is the first prototype of the game I’m working on called Escape Path. Check out the newest version here: Escape Path Beta

This is a prototype of a rogue-like game where you must escape the cave to beat the game ! Instead of using traditional health points or lives, you must collect food to survive, as every movement you make costs 1 food. How far in the cave can you make it?

It’s also inspired by Choose Your Own Adventure games, and every choice you make could impact the rest of the game permanently. So, choose wisely!

It’s only a prototype because the graphics and music are from a Unity tutorial for a roguelike game (https://unity3d.com/learn/tutorials/s/2d-roguelike-tutorial), which this game was built off and inspired by.  Check it out if you’re interested in making your own game. Additionally, this prototype does not have some features that will be included in the future demo. Everything is subject to change.

This game is still very much in development, so if you find any bugs, have any helpful suggestions / constructive criticism, features you would like to see, or just things that you like, be sure to comment them down below !

Also, if you escape, send me a screenshot and I’ll put your name in the Hall of Fame to be featured in this description!

Known issues with Unity WebGL :

- Click the game if you don’t hear any sound

- Graphics may be poor on Chrome

textbased sounds interesting in its description so far.

lightred-links within a background like that won't quite look like the best visuals, possibly more the greenish-background there (or changing its itch-background with the text's bg-color?

Its instructions with white font on black background do look cool, nice font-family and size.

"day1" and "food"-counter sounds exciting, while the music sound be quite better if it varies in sound, less ticking like a clock would be awesome.

I'd prefer a checkbox to disable in-game "hints" e.g. the info about food-consumption.

I like the tooltip about the monsters vs. walls, destroying walls vs. 'interacting' with them & fourth wall being down now.

Cool visuals: when hitting a wall "backwards" xD

"exit" being hardly visible in graphics/quality, I just guess it by the appearance and it being the only exit there.

The protagonist/character being bit blurry in face after each second movement when standing on the same square.

I was expecting lv2 with again 100food than saving the rest of lv1? There could be a textline before exiting the first floor, like: keep in mind, your food's progress stays saved for the next level.

Generally I adore choice-affecting games like your "Cave Escape". Which also sounds cool, same for the bear-animation when loading the game, it just appeared for some moments. Would be cool to get it appear later too?

Oh, I could even hit the "borders" of this game. but those walls somehow won't break. Still 17days of staying alive.

Thanks for playing my game and all the valuable feedback ! I actually made a new game inspired by this one, with a stronger narrative focus, a save system, and all new graphics and music. If you’re interested in checking that out, play it here: Escape Path Beta. It’s also a choice affecting game with multiple endings depending on which path  of choices you take, with hilarious dialogue and hijinks.

You're welcome and sure I'd also try that sequel-game (maybe its nick just sounds quite inspired there) & generally there could be maybe also some ratings and opinions from my side on its comment-section, I guess :-)
